Language barriers, cultural differences, and a brand new way of life. Seven months spent in a foreign country meant that Jillian Wiebe of MBMSI's TREK program was faced with new challenges on a daily basis. Adapting to her ever-changing world was a constant reminder to rely on the Holy Spirit.
Jillian witnessed the power of the Holy Spirit at the BET L (Bethel) Church in Chachoengsao - the least reached province in Eastern Thailand, when an man accepted Christ into his life. Though she was excited, she was also discouraged. "What can I do for this man?" thought Jillian. The answer came as quickly as the question: she could pray.
So Jillian prayed faithfully and fervently that he would love God's Word and find life in it. God moved. The new believer grew strong in the Lord, rooted in Him, and built up in the faith. He was hungry for the Word.
As Christians, we have a responsiblity to pray. Though we cannot always invest in a personal relationship, we can intercede through prayer. God has promised that the prayers of a righteous man are powerful and effective (James 5:16). Take a moment to listen to God. Intercede on behalf of another. Pray and watch God move.
